The Gel Doc WD-9413B is designed for efficient and precise imaging of nucleic acid and protein gels. To ensure optimal results and smooth operation, please follow the steps below carefully. This guide outlines the key procedures for setup, photo capture, and image adjustment.
Insert the security dongle into the computer and open the gel imaging analysis software.
Photo Capture Operation
Select the appropriate light source.
- When photographing DNA/RNA PCR electrophoresis gels, turn on the 302 nm light source.
- When photographing protein gels, first replace with the white light plate and turn on the white light source.
- 254 nm and 365 nm are used for gel excision operations.
Adjustable Setting
Contrast, exposure time, and gain can be freely adjusted.
Do not set the contrast too high—if it’s too high, faint bands may not be visible.
Recommended Settings
For nucleic acid imaging: Exposure time = 1000 ms, Gain = 30
For protein imaging: Exposure time = 200 ms, Gain = 30
Adjust the three rings on the camera lens on the main unit:
Aperture (adjusts brightness)
Zoom (adjusts size)
Focus (adjusts clarity)
Adjust until the image is clear.
Click “Scan Image” in the lower-right corner to capture the image.
Go to File → Save → Save Image.
